AMA Pro Racing Resigns Cortech Gear & Apparel For '12 Timing & Scoring Websites & Apps Sponsor in Road Racing & Flat Track

The first practice session gets underway at round 15 of the 2011 AMA Pro Flat Track Harley-Davidson Insurance Grand National Championship presented by Motorcycle-Superstore.com at the Springfield Short Track inside the Illinois State Fairgrounds.  7-Time AMA Grand National Champion Chris Carr, in his last full-time season as a regular on the circuit, leads this pack of riders on his #4 American Motorcyclist Assoc/DFW Honda/Classic H-D/Arai-sponsored Honda CRF450R in route to 15th overall in practice and what would turn into a 13th place spot in qualifying out of the 64 riders who would time in for the final 48 qualifying spots for the National main.

Keeping it close are Matt Weidman on his #20 SNIP/Shoei/R&D Springs/Silkolene-backed Honda, Johnny Lewis on the #10 Scott Powersports/Dubach Racing Developments/Saddlemen/Triple J Racing-sponsored Honda, and Illinois resident Rob Pearson on the #27 Matt Reecy Racing/RPM/Woody Kyle Racing/Moose-backed Yamaha YZ450F.

Lewis would miss the cut for the 18 rider main after practicing in the 4th overall spot and qualifying in the 8th spot.  Finishes of 15th in his heat race and 11th in his semi would doom it for him in what was a tightly-contested evening at the Springfield Rodeo/Multipurpose Arena.  Carr, Pearson and Weidman would all make the main, finishing in the 7th-9th spots respectively.

AMA Pro Racing announced today that they have resigned Cortech Gear and Apparel as the presenting sponsor in the 2012 season for their websites and mobile apps in use with AMA Pro Racing's Live Timing and Scoring in the AMA Pro Flat Track and AMA Pro Road Racing Series.  Cortech will be the 'branded' sponsor for the websites and mobile applications (for Android and iPhone users) as they were during the 2011 season.

AMA Pro Racing Expands Partnership Naming Cortech as Presenting Sponsor of Road Racing and Flat Track Live Timing & Scoring Websites and Mobile Apps

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 16, 2012) - Following a successful first year of partnership, AMA Pro Racing and Cortech are pleased to announce an expanded agreement naming Cortech Gear and Apparel as the Presenting Sponsor of AMA Pro's Live Timing and Scoring Websites and Mobile Apps for both AMA Pro Road Racing and AMA Pro Flat Track for the 2012 season. As part of the new agreement, AMA Pro Racing will distribute a total of $3,000 between the two disciplines in the form of Cortech "Performance Edge" year-end bonus award programs.

"We appreciate the support that Cortech has given to the AMA Pro Road Racing paddock and are excited about their expanded involvement with AMA Pro Flat Track in 2012," said David Atlas, Chief Operating Officer of AMA Pro Racing. "Both AMA Pro Racing and Cortech are known for delivering incredible value to our customers. The high-quality gear and apparel that Cortech produces and sells is consistent with the high quality live timing and scoring products produced in-house by the AMA Pro Racing staff. We are thankful that Cortech recognizes the importance and impact of utilizing cutting-edge technology to reach out to our fans."

The "Performance Edge" award, previously known as the "Fast Man Standing" award, was created in 2011 to recognize the rider who turned the highest number of overall fast lap times in National Guard SuperBike races. Known for high-performance lines of motorcycle apparel, gear, and accessories, Cortech recognized five different Fast Man Standing candidates in 2011, as Ben Bostrom, Blake Young, Tommy Hayden, Josh Hayes and Steve Rapp each claimed fast laps at AMA Pro Road Racing events during the season. Following the last event of the year, Young, Hayden and AMA Pro SuperBike Champion Hayes were all tied with four fastest race laps each. The tie breaker used to determine the winner was actual pole positions won and with his impressive seven pole positions earned throughout the season, Hayes was declared the inaugural winner of the year-end award named after Cortech.

"Cortech is thrilled to expand our sponsorship relationship with AMA Pro Racing," said Richard Kimes, Director of Marketing at Cortech's parent company Helmet House. "Our involvement with AMA Pro Road Racing and now AMA Pro Flat Track has really galvanized Cortech's position in the market."

As part of the agreement, Cortech will have exclusive in-market and promotional rights to AMA Pro Road Racing and AMA Pro Flat Track series marks in addition to on-site activation space within the paddock at each AMA Pro Road Racing and AMA Pro Flat Track event. Cortech gift certificates will be used to promote upcoming events through enter to win contests and other sweepstakes opportunities and the two companies will be working together throughout the year to find creative ways to expand their collective marketing reach.

As an example of Cortech's dedication to the AMA Pro fan base and out of appreciation for the many AMA Pro Road Racing fans who utilize Cortech products, a $200 Cortech gift certificate is currently up for grabs as part of the Leap-Day Giveaway on AMA Pro Road Racing's Facebook page. Those interested in participating can read the instructions in the caption and join in on the fun at http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=362430427119346.
